Hey guys it’s Brue a.k.a. Dupin a.k.a. Kid Sid Vicious a.k.a. I-have-to-make-up-my-own-nicknames-forever-alone, and guess what E3′s over and it was kinda cool but not the most exciting one, in spite of the fact that Nintendo revealed their next generation console and Sony revealed their next generation handheld. There were still a few scraps to sweep away today, but nothing too significant. In light of that I’ll show you what I found today, then I’ll revisit my favorite videos from my pre-E3 and give some closing thoughts on those games.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PS3) You know, I played the demo for this game on my PSP and the main reason why I didn’t get the full version is because I just couldn’t get used to the damn controls. That’s why putting this game on PS3, with a dual-joystick controller, is going to melt face. More about that here: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/09/hands-on-a-second-analog-stick-adds-a-lot-to-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker/
Tera I kind of really fucking want to play this: http://pc.ign.com/articles/117/1175195p1.html
Ruin, a cross-platform RPG, and by cross-platform they mean PS3 and PSV. Yes, I’ve already made an acronym for PS Vita because “Vita” reminds me too much of “Vista” which reminds me of shitty windows OSes. But I digress, here are some stills from the upcoming game: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/09/the-first-screens-of-sonys-cross-platform-rpg-ruin/
Luigi’s Mansion 2 You know, I’ve always liked Luigi better than Mario. He wears green, he has a curlier mustache, he’s taller, and he has TWO names, not this Mario Mario bullshit.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure comes with a really fucking cool addon you have to read about: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/gamenews.php?id=78513
Sonic Generations This is funny because I just downloaded Sonic 2 off of PSN and got the same gameplay. I guess this is just for little kids who are too young to have had a Game Gear and too old for their parents to have had a game gear: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/08/this-is-what-sonic-generations-looks-like-on-the-nintendo-3ds/
Picture Lives – Spore meets Scribblenauts. Must. Draw. Walking. Talking. Penis. Man! http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/09/picture-lives-is-e3s-weirdest-game/
Magical Drop V Maybe I’m not so enthused about this because I can walk down to an arcade and play this whenever the hell I want, at Arcade UFO btw check it out. For those of you without access to this wonderful game, this might be good for you: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/06/09/magical-drop-v-bounces-onto-pc-first-but-its-coming-to-consoles-too/
-Recap-
PSV http://psp.ign.com/articles/117/1173228p1.html
This was one of the first articles I posted, and to me it felt like this was a more signifcant reveal than Wii U. Wii U feels looks like a Wii that’s trying to catch up to it’s partner systems PS3 and Xbox 360. This, however, looks like it’s an actual innovation. Anyone who pays attention to handhelds, which is hard to do unless you live in Japan, will notice that every generation of handheld is pretty much a portable version of the last generation of consoles. While this follows that golden rule, it goes beyond that. Instead of just being a PS3 you can fit in your pocket, this is actually more like a PS3 you put in your pocket and it accidentally melted with your phone. More specifically, your iPhone. That’s right, PSV adds all of these cool social tools and portable online access that has become ubiquitous since everyone has a smart phone these days. However, you only get this cool shit from AT&T. Even though this is a really cool idea, I’m not much for having to pay AT&T to use it. That’s why I never bought an iPhone, and that’s why I don’t plan on getting this.
In short, nifty idea but bad execution.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Okay, let’s be honest, I jizz in my pants every time I see any new footage of Skyrim, and this was no exception. I’m a fanboy and I’m proud of it. Even though there wasn’t a whole hell of alot of new info, I got to see a guy kill a dragon. Fucking. Awesome. I still can’t wait to see more from this game, and I have an even harder time waiting for the user-made mods that will come out with this.
Bioshock Infinite
This was less of a reveal and more of a friendly reminder that they’re making this bad ass game. They did tease some information: the dialogue at the beginning, the fight with a fucking blimp (!), and what looks like a new power where you just turn gravity off. Speaking of tease, we got to see Elizabeth’s cleavage again. God bless the man who invented corsets.
Tomb Raider
Of all the videos I saw this week, this one surprised me the most. As the technology for gaming grows, the environments that we get to play in have become more real. Look at Skyrim for example: everything in that game looks like your actually walking across the Rockies or the Alps with the scenery they’ve created there. However, few games are smart to do the same to their stories, and what better way to make the Tomb Raider experience more visceral than to transform the tomb raider herself into a living, breathing, and more importantly a fearing human being. In this video, every time Lara Croft gets hurt, every time she gets startled, we do too. I can only imagine what it will be like to play this game.
